Bekaert Slovakia faced difficulties in monitoring real-time production metrics across its manufacturing processes. The lack of visibility into operational data led to inefficiencies and delayed responses to issues on the production floor. Managers had limited tools to track downtime, errors, and performance indicators, making it challenging to implement corrective actions swiftly. The company required a robust system to provide real-time production insights and enable proactive management.
PRODUCTION LINE VISUALIZATION
Visualization of production showing data directly from production lines. The visualization consists of different report types, graphs, input screens or managment screens. It is designed in a way that it is possible to display the required and relevant production data for each workplace, department, machine, worker, manager or to ensure the collection of this data from production.
Screens containing the visualization are located at each relevant workstation or machine. In total, over 300 “small” screens and more than 10 “large” management screens were deployed. The interesting thing is that the management screens can be controlled with gestures thanks to Kinect technology.
CENTRALIZED VAS PORTAL
Visualization, data collection, and display can be managed through the centralized VAS portal, accessible on screens, desktops, or mobile devices within your manufacturing network. The portal offers a suite of predefined reports for machines, production lines, and measurement devices, which can be customized for individual production elements as needed. In addition to monitoring, it enables interventions in the production process, such as adjusting order priorities and more.
WHERE AND HOW WE COLLECT THE DATA
Manually entered data is collected using barcode scanners. Each order, manufactured product, sample, operation has its own unique barcode, which is read into the system by a barcode reader. The automatically collected data comes directly from the machines and is stored in the database. Order data is automatically transferred from SAP to the system.
WHAT DATA/INFORMATION WE COLLECT
In addition to actual information (currently produced orders on machines, currently measured physical quantities of machines, online overview of the status of lines and machines, etc.) the system also conveys historical reports and creates aggregated information about production as various KPIs (e.g. machine performance, production line performance, OEE of the machine, OEE of the production line).
